To our many online animal friends:
Robyn and I are grateful for the emotional and financial support you gave us as we moved
to this day when we had to say goodbye to our beloved, Sanjee. As you can see from the angel picture Robyn posted, she was beautiful!!
Robyn rescued Sanjee from a feral litter a few days after 9/11, after we had to say goodbye to our 18 year old cat Chloe. She was only 4 weeks old and weighed only about 1 lb. Needless to say she grew into a big, fancy gal! Boni Maroni came to live with us when Sanjee was about 6 months old and they were buddies who slept together on Robyn’s desk until the other Hotties (Mini, Pepi and Gree) were rescued. After that Sanjee retreated to my bedroom (her sancturary) and completely ignored and avoid the other cats to this day.
In 2003, Robyn moved out of town for a while and Sanjee became my charge and my bed buddy for the rest of her life. She started sleeping on the foot of my bed and stayed there until today. Even when Robyn moved back to Richmond, Sanjee had her own bedroom (mine) with her personal litter box, food and drinking fountain. She was unique in that we could never train or tempt her with any cat treats—she only ate her own cat food and turned her nose up at chicken, turkey or ham (I think she ate ham once). In later years, she enjoyed having her belly rubbed and standing on the bookcase at the foot of my bed to be brushed.
Animal lovers know how meaningful a relationship with one’s pet can be. I will miss Sanjee calling me to come see her (in her room), when I come home from work, and jumping on the bookcase to let me know she needed rubbing. There are hundreds of other things about her that I will miss. Most of all I will miss my furry, dear friend.
Again, thank you all for your loving support of us. You are very special, wonderful people!!
Blessings and Peace,
Sanjee’s Grandma Cat of
The House of Mostly Black Cats
PS from Mom Robyn: I didn’t rescue Sanjee per se. She picked me by crawling out of the box the kind people who had captured her from behind a garage had her in and crawling right up my arm. 🙂
